Nutritionist Adam Colins of the University of Surrey found out how nutrients in the body, before training, affect the burning of unwanted kilograms.

The study involved a group of volunteers, consisting of 17 women and 13 men, who previously either did not work out in the gym at all, or did it from time to time.

Volunteers went on a diet that was selected based on their current body weight, as well as a number of other signs. A diet designed to ensure that the supply of nutrients during the experiment was approximately equal to the rate of their combustion, eliminating the possibility of overeating. All participants in the experiment were asked to visit the gym three times a week for a month and perform a set of prescribed exercises. Before training, each volunteer had to drink a glass of drink, the composition of which was not disclosed. Half of the group took a nutritious cocktail rich in carbohydrates, and the second part - a drink that had no calories.

After the end of the experiment, scientists checked the fat volume and body mass of the participants. The researchers found that women in training managed to burn more body fat than men. So during the experiment, women who had carbohydrates in their drink lost an average of 22% more than women who drank a cocktail without calories.

In men, another dependence was established - adipose tissue gave way to muscle, if after a workout the stronger sex was taking high-calorie healthy food.
